چکیده

In this study, experimental Ti–6Al–1V–3Fe, Ti–4.5Al–1V–3Fe, and Ti–3Fe alloys, as well commercial Ti–6Al–4V alloy that were scaled up utilizing vacuum induction melting technology, assessed for corrosion performance in simulated body fluids. The selected fluids 0.9 wt% NaCl solution Hanks balanced salt (HBSS). Open circuit potential linear polarization scans performed to understand the of alloys. surface alloys was examined before after exposure corrosive solutions using scanning electron microscopy. results show all exhibit good rates less than 0.5 mm/year. Owing higher lower rate, Ti–6Al–1V–3Fe Ti–4.5Al–1V–3Fe had best resistance HBSS, respectively. All consist a fully lamellar structure with α β phases. There no evidence severe deterioration on exposed

EFFECT OF ANODIC OXIDATION ON THE CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF NICKEL-TITANIUM SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS IN SIMULATED BODY FLUIDS (SBF)

The effect of anodic oxidation of a NiTi shape memory alloy in sulfuric acid electrolyte on its surface characteristics was studied. Surface roughness was measured by roughness tester. Surface morphology was studied using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Corrosion behavior was specified by recording Potentiodynamic polarization cur...

Corrosion and tribocorrosion of hafnium in simulated body fluids.

Hafnium is a passive metal with good biocompatibility and osteogenesis, however, little is known about its resistance to wear and corrosion in biological environments. The corrosion and tribocorrosion behavior of hafnium and commercially pure (CP) titanium in simulated body fluids were investigated using electrochemical techniques. Cyclic polarization scans and open circuit potential measuremen...

Fretting corrosion of hafnium in simulated body fluids

Hafnium has been suggested as an interesting material for biomedical applications due to its good biocompatibility and osteogenesis. However, its behaviour under fretting corrosion conditions, found in applications such as dental and joint implants, has not been studied in depth. A three-electrode electrochemical cell integrated with a ball-on-flat reciprocating tribometer was used to investiga...

Corrosion Resistance of Dental Alloys

Metals and metallic alloys are unavoidable materials in everyday dental use for the making of fillings, cast cores and post systems, individual crowns, implantants’ suprastructures, dentures and orthodontic devices. They still belong to the vital materials in dentistry. Applied alloys in a mouth are exposed to the influence of chemical, biological, mechanical, thermal and electrical forces whic...

Tarnish Resistance, Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Cracking of Gold Alloys

Tarnishing, corrosion and stress corrosion cracking (SeC) of gold alloys are related phenomena. They present problems when they occur in gold jewellery, dental gold alloys and electronic devices. They are exploited, however, in the depletion gilding and finishing of gold jewellery; and in the extraction, refining and fire assaying of gold. There is still much that is not known about these pheno...
